Wolves striker Podens faces FA spitting charges

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Daniel Podens has been charged by the FA for spitting during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

Forest's Brennan Johnson accused Poddens of spitting on him in the 90th minute, but VAR checked the incident at the time and took no action against the Portuguese player.

Pordens equalized for Wolves and the incident, which allegedly took place near the final whistle, took place during a scuffle.

If found guilty, Podens faces an enforced six-match ban, which would deal a major blow to Wolves' battle to avoid being dragged into the relegation zone.

The short-tempered Midlands feud also resulted in Forest being charged by the FA for allegedly failing to control players after surrounding the referee in the 40th minute.

Forest 's assistant coach Alan Tate and his counterpart Pablo Sanz are also facing FA charges over inappropriate / violent behaviour.

All those charged have until April 12 to respond .
