Sporting News - Allegri: Juve are learning to rely on young players

Injuries to experienced players have forced Juventus to turn to younger players, manager Massimiliano Allegri said on Saturday.

Juventus have had a poor start to the season and are eighth in Serie A with 22 points after 12 games , two behind Sunday's visitors Inter Milan.

A series of injuries, including a knee problem that kept French midfielder Paul Pogba out of this month's World Cup, have taken their toll on the Turin club.

Juventus are looking for redemption after securing a place in the Europa League after being knocked out of the Champions League into the playoffs in February.

"We are more focused in the game, we are more calm. Due to the lack of experienced players who should be the fulcrum of the team, we found young players to rely on," Allegri told reporters.

Italian striker Federico Chiesa was one of Juve's top performers last season, having recovered from an ACL injury that kept him out of action for 10 months, and will play against Inter Milan played in the game.

Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic is likely to miss the game due to low back pain, while defender Grayson Bremer and forward Angel Di Maria have returned from injury and can play.
