Sheffield United beat West Brom 2-0 to advance to the Premier League three rounds early

Sheffield United defeated West Brom 2-0 at home at Bramall Stadium , securing second place in the Championship and returning to the Premier League.

Sheffield United manager Paul Heikinbott says no one is more deserving of promotion than his players during his 17-month tenure at Bramall Stadium with consistent performances.

Since taking over from Slavisa Jokanovic in 2021, Hykinbot has led the team to 45 wins in 80 games despite being 16th in the Championship when he took over . But still led the team into the Championship play-offs in his first season.

They did better this time around, securing Premier League promotion three games ahead of schedule, having been relegated at the end of a miserable season two years ago when they won just seven games all season, with Hykinbot acting as manager. Only won 3 of 11 games during the period.

"We've gone through 18 months of doing what we've done and there's no one who deserves more than these players," Heinbot told Sky Sports after the team's 2-0 home win over West Brom.

"We've been doing that for a long time. We're very determined internally, we're not shouting it out from the rooftops, but we know every day that if I blame someone it's because we've been chasing it. That's what we want."

Sheffield United lost to Nottingham Forest in the play-off semi-finals last season and Heinbott says he capitalized on his own and his players' frustration last season to ensure they return to the top flight 12 months later.

He knows things can get more difficult and tough, however their aim is always to do their best and try to get into the Premier League.
