Saka signs new long-term contract at Arsenal
2023-05-24 13:02Arsenal striker Bukayo Saka has signed a new long-term contract with the club, the Premier League side said on Tuesday.
The 21 -year-old England international joined the north London side's academy at the age of eight and has been a key figure over the past two seasons, having made 178 first -team appearances .
Saka has scored 14 goals and assisted 11 for Arsenal in all competitions this season . He was also the club's top scorer last season with 12 goals.
Saka's previous contract was originally scheduled to expire after the end of the 2023-24 season. British media reported that the new contract is valid until 2027 .
" I'm really happy. I think it's the right club, the right place to take the next step. It's a beautiful club and look at where we are, " Saka said in a statement.
" For me, it's about fulfilling my personal ambitions ... and then I have all the right people around me, including family, when I come to the training ground, my team-mates, the coaching staff.
" I think I have what it takes to be the best player and that's why I'm happy to stay here and stay here for the future because I really believe we can achieve great things. "
Saka, nominated as Premier League player of the year, has signed a new contract at the Emirates Stadium alongside goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
" Retaining our best youngsters is key to our continued improvement and Bukayo is and will be such an important part of our squad, " manager Mikel Arteta said.
