Ronaldo hands penalty to teammate to show respect

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a stunning long-range free-kick but, out of respect, Al Nasr handed over the task of winning the penalty to his teammates as they beat Abha 2-1 in the Saudi Pro League Saturday.

The Portuguese striker, who scored nine goals in his first season in Saudi Arabia, gave the ball to Brazilian Anderson Talisca , who had just returned from injury .

Talisca scored his 14th goal of the season with an 86th-minute penalty and celebrated with Ronaldo as Al Nasr continued to put pressure on the Ittihad Leading by one point with nine games remaining in the league .

" It's mutual respect, we are a team, we act like a family, " Taliska told Saudi Sports Corporation (SSC) television through a translator.

" We all work together, the most important thing is the team. In the end, it's all for the good of the club. Whether it's me or the other players, the most important thing is to score goals. It's definitely something special," said Ronaldo .

Ronaldo's 78th - minute goal was his first at Al Nasr's Masur Park Stadium since his big-money 2.5- year move to Saudi Arabia.

The 38 -year-old will join Portugal for the international break before returning to lead Al Nasr to their first league title since 2019 .
