JOHOR - Defending Malaysian Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) is set to sign Nathaniel Shio Hong Wan from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.


The announcement was made by JDT’s technical director Alistair Edwards through the club’s official Facebook page on Thursday.


“This agreement is subject to the successful application of his (Nathaniel) Malaysian citizenship and he will begin when his current contract expires in June, ” said Edwards.


Nathaniel, now 20-year-old, is an English born midfielder with Malaysian Chinese descent. The youngster joined Wolves from now National League side Yeovil Town's Under-18s after impressing the West Midlands club. He has also spent the second-half of last season on loan at Croatian PRVA HNL side NK Varaždin.


Prior to this, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) were also reported to be “courting” Nathaniel to join the Harimau Malaya squad.


Nathaniel, on his part, has not ruled out the possibility of donning the South East Asian country's national team jersey one day.
