David Silva completes contract extension with Real Sociedad..




Real Sociedad announced on the official website on Thursday that the club has extended the contract of former Spain international attacking midfielder David Silva.


According to Real Sociedad's official statement, Silva has signed on a new short-term one-year deal with the club which only runs until the summer of 2024.


After completing his contract renewal procedures, Silva, who was interviewed by the official website of Real Sociedad again said: "I feel good and I want to continue playing. My family is also very happy here, and I am also very grateful to the club.”


"There are a lot of young people who want to learn and progress and it's always important for the team to have someone with more experience to help them develop. The club, the coach and the players are in demand and it shows in the results. This attitude must be maintained in order to continue to making progress."

The 37-year-old Silva was born on January 8, 1986 in Arguineguín, Las Palmas, the capital of the Canary Islands, Spain. He is 1.7 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but he can also play as a winger or as support striker.


Silva played for the youth academy of an non-league club, San Fernando when he was a child, and moved to the Valencia youth academy at the age of 14, and where he was loaned-out to Eibar and Celta Vigo from 2004 to 2005 successively to gain match experience.


After returning to the club in the summer of 2006, Silva officially completed his Valencia first-team debut and quickly established himself as an undisputed key player.


In his 6-year stint with Los Che, Silva won the Copa del Rey once with the club, and was also pursued by many Premier League giants because of his excellent passing and shooting abilities.


In the summer of 2010, after helping the Spain national team win the FIFA World Cup, Silva moved to Manchester City for 24 million pounds.


Across his 10-year spell with the Cityzens, Silva played 436 times for Manchester City, scored 77 goals, assisted 140 times, and led the club to win 4 Premier League, 2 FA Cup, 5 League Cup titles and 3 English Community Shields, becoming one of the best midfielders in the history of the Premier League.


After his contract had expired in 2020, Silva joined Real Sociedad as a free agent and led the club to win the Copa del Rey once in the 2019/20 season.


So far this season, Silva has played 32 times for the La Liga powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and assisting 7 times.
