Conte Always Monitors Players in the National Team
2022-04-03 04:07LONDON -- Tottenham Hotspur will face Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London on Sunday (3/4/2022). This match will be the team's first game after the two-week international break.
During the international break, several Tottenham Hotspur players defended their national team. Spurs coach, Antonio Conte apparently continues to monitor the players.
"When our players go to the national team, we the coaching team try to watch every game. This session of the national team we have to be happy to see the performance of our players," Conte said, quoted from the London Football page, Friday (1/4/2022).
Two players who are directly monitored by Conte are Joe Rodon and Steven Bergwijn. Defending Wales, Joe Rodon held Chile to a 1-1 draw. A similar score ended for the Dutch match, which was strengthened by Bergwijn against Germany.
"Joe is a good player but he is very great. He performed very well, which means he has to continue this hard work," Conte said.
Conte also saw Joe Rodon defend Wales and worked hard during qualifying. For him, Joe Rodon deserves to appear for Wales at the 2022 World Cup later.
"I have a group of players who are doing well, they are very focused and working to raise the level," Conte said.
Meanwhile Conte sees Steven Bergwijn as a quality player and has great potential. As a forward, Bergwijn had many golden opportunities and performed well.
"He is different to the players we have in the squad, a good 1 on 1 even in tight spaces, and he is very good at beating opponents and creating chances," Conte said.
As a coach, Conte certainly provides some notes for the Dutch player. For him, Bergwijn must be able to help the team at every moment by keeping the ball moving.
"Football is a team game and of course you have to be ready to help the team at all times. For sure we are talking about other players who have made important improvements," Conte said.
