Brighton agreed deal in principle to sign young Brazilian striker João Pedro from Watford..

Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, reported on Friday that Brighton have reached an agreement in principle with Watford over the transfer of young Brazilian striker João Pedro.

According to Romano's report, Watford has agreed to accept Brighton's offer of £30 million pounds, making him the latter club's record-highest transfer fee player. Both parties had also already reached an agreement on contractual matters, it is currently not known how long the contract length would be, as long as Pedro can take the time to complete his medicals, he could be officially announced as Brighton's new player.

When a reporter from BT Sports personally asked Seagulls head coach Roberto De Zerbi about Pedro's imminent transfer at Brighton's pre-match press conference against Wolverhampton Wanderers at home in the Premier League this weekend, De Zerbi remained cautious and said: "João?! I don't know which João you are talking about. He is a very good player. I think we have a very good team, but we can get better."

Joao Pedro, who is only 21 years old, was born in Riberio Preto, Brazil on September 26, 2001. He is 1.82 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward, but he can also be played as a left winger, right winger or auxiliary center forward. His father, Chicão, played for many local non-league clubs in Brazil.

Pedro joined the Fluminense youth academy since he was a child, and at the end of March 2019 he came off the bench as a substitute to complete his Fluminense first-team debut.

In January 2020, Pedro joined Watford for £10 million.

Due to a language barrier, Pedro's performance after moving to the Hornets was quite inconsistent, but during this spell he still became the focus of attention after scoring in the Premier League game against Manchester United in November 2021.

So far this season, Pedro has played 35 times for the EFL Championship side in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and assisting 4 times.
