A total of 21 Japanese League Players Appear in U-23 Asian Cup Uzbekistan

Shimizu S-Pulse became the team that contributed the most players.

JAKARTA -- Saudi Arabia has been crowned the champion of the 2022 edition of the U-23 Asian Cup after defeating the host Uzbekistan 2-0 in the final. But interestingly in the U-23 Asian Cup, of the 368 players registered in the championship, 21 of them came from clubs in the J League competition, aka the Japanese League.


Of this number, based on data from the J League, Monday (20/6/2022), not only from Japan, but also from South Korea, Thailand, to Malaysia.


For Malaysia, there is Hadi Fayyadh who is a striker from Azul Claro Numazu club and is the only player from Meiji Yasuda in the J3 League, aka the third caste of the Japanese League in the 2022 U-23 Asian Cup.

Besides Malaysia, Thailand also has one player from the J League. He is Sitticok Paso who currently strengthens J2 League club, FC Ryukyu. South Korea also used the services of J1 League club Shimizu S-Pulse, Oh Se-hun, in its squad.

In addition to these three players, 18 other players are included in the 23-player squad for the Japanese national team directed by coach Go Oiwa. A total of 10 of these players are from J1 League clubs, while the remaining eight are from second-caste teams.

Shimizu S-Pulse became the team that contributed the most players with three players, one player for South Korea (Oh Se-hun) and two players for the Japanese national team (Daiki Matsuoka, Yuito Suzuki). After Shimizu, there were Kashiwa Reysol, Montedio Yamagata, and Tokyo Verdy who each contributed two players.
