◤Premier League◢ Liverpool and Everton fined by the Football Association (FA) over Andy Robertson and Jordan Pickford induced players mass confrontation..

The Football Association (FA) announced on its official Twitter on Wednesday that the authorities have fined Liverpool and Everton for the mass confrontation between both clubs' players during the Merseyside Derby.

The FA's official statement reads: "Everton and Liverpool have been fined £25,000 and £40,000 respectively for the mass confrontation between both set of  players in their Premier League match on Monday, February 13, 2023. Both clubs have admitted that they had failed to control players on the pitch and on the bench in an orderly fashion which led to an avoidable clash which could be refrained in the 86th minute."

"A report by an independent commission which has been heard along with the details and reasons for the fine will be published in due course in the next few days."

This Merseyside Derby, which has always been full of drama, took place in the 24th round of the Premier League in the 2022/23 season. Liverpool who had been struggling all season and laughed at by many eventually won the match 2-0 courtesy of goals from Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo's goals.

In the 86th minute of the game, after Andy Robertson kicked the ball away, Jordan Pickford immediately rushed forward and they slightly pushed each other. It was initially an interesting incident where both players quickly laughed it off, but after Connor Coady and Sheamus Coleman intervened, the atmosphere instantly escalated into a conflict.

Provoked by the latter two, Pickford, who had been laughing, immediately changed his mood and started arguing with Robertson. After that, the group of Everton players led by Alex Iwobi also immediately surrounded Robertson, which prompted Diogo Jota and James Milner to step forward and pull Robertson away to try to cool the situation.

However, this move triggered the Everton substitute Amadou Onana, who was not to be outdone, to join the clash and began to push Virgil Van Dijk who was warming up and trying to cool things down on the sidelines. As a last resort, the referee was forced to issue a yellow card to Robertson and Jordan Pickford, the initiators of the whole incident, as a warning.

Dramas in the Merseyside Derby between Everton and Liverpool has escalated sharply in recent years, and it is worth mentioning that the main character of every clash between the two clubs has always been the same one man, which is Pickford.

The Toffees' England international goalkeeper also caused a stir in this derby when he slammed Van Dijk to the floor with a violent "sharp scizzors crossed leg" similar to that of a WWE wrestler during the early-round match of the Premier League a few years ago, causing the renowned Reds defensive stalwart to be ruled out for the season due to a serious injury, but escaped the punishment of being sent off by a red card, which attracted condemnation from fans all around the world.
